CQHA Seeks Team Canada Coach and Team Manager for 2018 AQHA Youth World Cup

Calgary, AB — April 3, 2017 –The Canadian Quarter Horse Association is pleased to announce that the next American Quarter Horse Association Youth World Cup will be held June 28 – July 8 in College Station, Texas. This event, first held in Australia in 1986 as the International Youth Quarter Horse World Cup, has become one of the most prestigious equine competitions recognized worldwide.

The AQHA Youth World Cup features teams of five riders from up to 16 different countries. The host country provides a pool of horses for the competition. And, in the tradition of every Youth World Cup event since 1986, the CQHA will co-ordinate and field a youth team of up to five riders, plus alternates, to represent our country as Team Canada. Reining Horse Foundation Scholarship Deadline is May 1

High school seniors who are members of the National Reining Horse Youth Association are encouraged to apply for scholarships made possible by the Reining Horse Foundation (RHF). Applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2017, for consideration. Seven academic and need-based scholarships will be awarded by an independent committee based upon applicants’ academic achievement, financial need, future goals and involvement with horses and NRHyA.test

The scholarships range from $750 to $2,000, with three awarded at the highest level. Recipients in 2016 included Megan D’Andrea of Fowler, Ohio; Amber Edmonds of Pepperell, Mass.; Holly Lansidel of McKenna, Wash.; Nicholas Muir of Lynnwood, Wash.; Shaelyn Vering of Scribner, Neb.; Jarid Walton of Coleman, Mich.; and Blair Willette of Haleiwa, Hawaii. Previous recipients are eligible to reapply.

Chairman of the foundation’s Scholarship Committee is NRHA Vice President and Foundation Boardmember Mike Hancock. He said, “The foundation is committed to this scholarship program and what it means to our youth and their future. We appreciate every donor who makes the program possible through their support of fundraising efforts.”
